COPPA, Privacy and Security

  • All vendors we are working with allow us to opt-out of them storing any data
  • Age verification (have to be age 13 or up in Apple’s AppStore)
  • Parental consent
  • Content filtering
  • User data protection (opt-out)
  • Education and awareness (educational resources to inform parents and children about online privacy and safety practices)
  • Third party vendor to maintain/confirm COPPA compliance
  • We are using Google’s Firebase for authorization and authentication as well as managing user accounts
  • Inside Firebase we store session memory – which are the spoken words, and name and email address

 

Moderation

  • These base moderation filters are enabled by default:
    • Hate
    • Hate/threatening
    • Harassment
    • Harassment/threatening
    • Self-harm
    • Self-harm/intent
    • Self-harm/instructions
    • Sexual
    • Sexual/minors
    • Violence
    • Violence/graphic

  • We use filters to trigger custom actions (Notifications, etc)

  • We use text analysis for the following, which we can use to trigger custom actions (Parent notifications, etc):
    • Classifications (Sports, technology)
    • Emotion (Sad, happy)
    • Intent (Statement, question)
    • Sentiment (Positive, negative)
    • Topic (Technology, news)
    • Toxicity (Derogatory language)
    • Named Entities (People, places)

  • We also have the following rating models that we can check text against and use to trigger custom actions (Parent notifications, etc)
    • MPA Ratings (Motion Picture Association)
    • TV Parental Guidelines
    • ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board)
    • PEGI (Pan European Game Information)

  • Each user specifies their own age, and our system will make sure the responses are appropriate for that age
